Nokia

Nokia is a communications company from Finland. They once were one of most recognizable brands of mobile phone designers and manufacturers, dominating European and American markets for nearly two decades. Company outsold everyone in early 00’s and contributed to research of popular GSM format. Nothing spelled trouble for them during start of smartphone era either, and they entered it with their own operating system Symbian. Yet something was missing and commercial success wasn’t there this time. Eventually Nokia was bought by Microsoft, who mostly sought to eliminate competing mobile OS. Few years later, some of Nokia’s founders and tech specialists managed to return brand to life in cooperation with HMD Global and Foxconn mobile division facilities. Currently, they once again design, manufacture and release smartphones. Even though these devices are still niche and mostly unheard of, Nokia 6 smartphone was unveiled in February of 2017 at Mobile World Congress to critical acclaim.
